Social Media For Small Business
Rob Chant of Search Engine Watch has some great advice on how small businesses can use social media. The basis of his argument is that social media marketing is about a conversation, not a broadcast. It must be a two way street to be effective.
What Can Social Media do for Your Small Business?
By Rob Chant, Search Engine Watch, Jun 11, 2010
April Fool's Day is probably the world's least memorable event. It's funny for a few moments, but not the sort of funny that really sticks. Granted, there's the odd exception, but most of those carefully crafted blog posts and spoof news stories disappear without a trace.
But this year there's one post I found myself still thinking about well after the event. There's a theory that humor often relies on the joke communicating an underlying truth. Spice's Social Media Intelligent Language Engine does just that. If it were real, business owners small and large would indeed be queuing up to try it out.
And it would be one of the worst ideas ever.
Why? Because social media is about communication, not broadcast. It's your chance to talk with people, engage with them, and really get to know them, not fob them off with a machine. MORE...http://searchenginewatch.com/3640613

Koenig & Strey Launches Its New Brand
Koenig & Strey is one of the most well known real estate firms in the Chicago area and is about to celebrate its 50th Birthday! The new ad campaign emphasises the high level of service provided as measured by an independent third party survey. Service is the key to Koenig & Strey's success because that is its core business. Koenig & Strey has some of the most experienced agents in the Chicago area, with an average 12 years in the business. As any agent can tell you, the only way to last 12 years in real estate is by providing great customer service. With experience also comes market knowledge and an understanding of how to handle difficult situations. To prove the point, Koenig & Strey agents are now producing 54% better than last year, well ahead of the market.
Koenig & Strey is a market leader in luxury properties, with a higher average selling price than our competitors and we are an affiliate of Christies International, the world's premier luxury marketing program.
Koenig & Strey is owned by HomeServices of America, an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway, which is the second largest brokerage in the United States. HomeServices of America is committed to the Chicago market, as demonstrated by our recent acquisition of Schiller Real Estate in Elmhurst.
This is an exciting time to be part of the Koenig & Strey story. Koenig & Strey is expanding its market share and developing exciting new marketing technology that will ensure its position as one of the leading firms in the Chicago area.
Tax Credit May Get Extension
NAR estimates that 180,000 transactions may not close by the deadline of June 30, even though they qualify and had signed contracts on April 30. Harry Ried introduced a bill that would extend the tax credit deadline for 3 months. I certainly hope it is successful. The housing market is not out of the woods by any stretch of the imagination and with all of the inventory yet to sell, especially the large number of distressed properties, an extension of the credit that allows qualified transactions to close is essential.
